Race Report by Sam Wickham
Last weekend the club performed well with lots of wins at Wimbleball regatta. It was great to see the Masters, Seniors and Juniors all competing and helping each other as a Club.
The weather (very hot and with a side wind) meant that there were a few steering issues with some of the crews and results suffered.
The junior squad put in another strong performance and it was good to see the youngest crews, some of whom had never raced before, achieve wins.
Steering issues caused by a vanishing rudder meant that the J16x4+ was unable to steer to what would have been a certain victory having been beaten by a canvas.
Finally, on the Sunday Ed and Ollie travelled up to Eton Dorney, where they put in a great performance at the GB time trials to see if they could get the seat in the upcoming GB v France match but after having to go first in the time trial they came second by 1.9 seconds and therefore did not get the GB ticket…it was brutal but the road to success is pathed with failures….next time for sure!
