An awesome weekend of racing in the picturesque town of Totnes! Blessed with wonderful weather on the Saturday and not so nice weather on the Sunday all crews were on top form.
Lots of wins for all sections of the Club, lots of helping each other out, cheering Club crews on and lots of family support.
Saturday’s racing was over 500 metres with Poppy and Lula Bowyer winning WJ18 2x, Poppy WJ17 1x, Lula WJ15 1x. Poppy was also in the winning senior 4x-. A new WJ15 4x+ crew of Phoebe Campbell, Rebecca Vater, Molly Batchelor and Bree Spivey coxed by Danielle Stuart won convincingly and Ed Fuller won the ‘friendly’ J12 1x event against Toby Bower and a Totnes sculler. These boys along with Jamie Campbell and Daisy Batchelor also took part in their first J13 4x+ event. Thanks to Daisy for standing in.
Sunday’s WEARA championship racing was over 1000 metres. Some excellent racing from all our crews. The girls J15/16 crew of Danielle McLean, Molly Batchelor, Georgia Bonfield and Hannah Allison, coxed by Danielle Stuart excelled themselves winning both the WNov 4+ and the WJ18 4+. The boys J16 crew won the MNov 4+. Phoebe Campbell won the WJ16 and WJ18 1x events and the surprise of the day (and a pleasant one too) was the WJ14 4x+ crew winning against two established crews from Plymouth and Paignton. Daisy Batchelor did her supersub act and joined Evie Drew, Emily Vater, Kate Doble and cox Lauren May. It was great to see the boys crew cheering them on from their boat (photo on BR Instagram).
