Exeter Rowing Club Masters had a fantastic weekend at Henley Masters regatta coming away with 2 wins and crews in 5 finals.
Races are held over 1000m on part of the the Henley Royal Regatta course. Dan won his Masters B single in a thrilling race during which the lead changed several times. Harry and Jo beat HSBC BC by half a length in a super quick time of 3:20.
The quad of Eleanor, Lisa, Helen and Lisa fought their way past 4 crews to reach finals in two events, the WMas B and WMas C quads. However, despite going 5 seconds faster in both finals, they were beaten by both MAA and Sarasota each time by just over a length. After a fantastic first 700 m Dave was overhauled by a large American sculler in the last portion of his final. Julia and Caroline performed creditably against a Upper Thames double consisting of two ex-national squad members.
Finally, the newer members of the squad in their first ever Henley Masters regatta – Di, Jane, Anne-Marie and Kirstie had a thrilling first round race against Cantabrigian which they lost by a few feet.
Well done all.
