The WEARA season is beginning to draw to a close and with just a few regattas remaining Exeter are looking favourable for securing the championship title in a number of events. Last weekend the club were competing at Paignton regatta.
Notable performances include the men’s senior A / B crew of Jonty Webber, Paul Minchell, David Ord, Brendan Corkery and Emily Boother (cox), this crew has produced some outstanding results in the WEARA championships and are currently leading the senior A and B categories.
As wins rack up the number of novice rowers are dwindling. This weekend it was the turn of Mark Maddock, Yiana Shakespeare, Dave Turner, George Roberts and Emily Boother (cox) to race in the novice 4+ and they didn’t disappoint. The win at Paignton has bought the men’s novice championship title into touching distance and the results at the next 2 regattas will be critical. For the women some of the junior girls were called upon to race in the novice 4+. Anna Whittingslow, Millie Roberts, Lauren May, Megan Higgs and Dani Wall (cox) really stepped up to the mark and produced a win to be proud of as they secured the novice championship title for the women’s squad!
