Successful day at Gloucester Head

Last weekend Exeter Rowing Club sent a small group of juniors to Gloucester Spring Head. Racing over an extensive 5k course against a blustery head wind. Regardless of this all juniors performed excellently with a very strong set of results.

In the morning division we had 2 WJ18 doubles racing, Evie and Amelia against Lily and Niamh. Going into this there was no clear favourite and both crews knew this was going to be a close one! Separated by an extremely small margin of just 3.5s, Evie and Amelia prevailed.

As the afternoon division came around the wind grew stronger. We had two singles racing, Hollie and Tommy in the WJ18 1x and OpJ18 1x respectively. After an extended wait at the start they were both eager to get going. Hollie performed superbly beating her competition from Hartpury College by a comfortable 45s. Tommy was racing a very well-established sculler from Wycliffe and unfortunately just fell short of the win. A special shout out also goes to Kirstie for winning the W masE-F 1x.

A very successful day for the club winning 3/4 events with plenty of positives to take from it. Our juniors will next be racing at the infamous Nottingham Water Sports Centre in April for the Junior Inter-regional Regatta.
