Learn To Row

We offer different types of Learn to Row courses: Junior, Adult and Coxing.

Adult Learn to Row

Thank you for your interest in rowing with Exeter Rowing Club.

We’re hosting a Club Open Day on Friday 25th July, from 12:00pm – 4:00pm, for anyone interested in finding out more about the sport.

During the afternoon, we’ll be running four one-hour drop-in sessions (starting every hour) where you can:

  • Meet current club members and coaches
  • Learn about rowing and what to expect as a beginner
  • See the club and facilities
  • Ask any questions you may have about getting started
  • Find out about opportunities to progress into our Rowing Taster programme

This is an informal and friendly introduction to the sport, with no previous experience required, and no cost attached. If you’d like to let us know you’re coming or want a reminder to attend please register here.  Following the Open Day, we will be inviting suitable participants to join our next Adult Taster Course

Learn to Row Taster Course

If you would like to join the taster course we strongly encourage you to attend the Open Day and to meet our coaches. If you can’t make our Open Day, but would like to register interest in the taster course you can do so here.

The course will run for four weeks, starting on Wednesday 9th September.

Participants will be able to sign up to two sessions per week from the following slots:

  • Wednesday – 18:30
  • Saturday – 11:00
  • Saturday – 13:30
  • Sunday – 11:00
  • Sunday – 13:30

Cost

The total cost for the Taster Course is £40 For more information please email membership@exeterrowingclub.com

Please note that completing the registration form does not guarantee a place, as spaces are limited. However, if demand is high, we will likely run additional courses or similar opportunities later in the year.

Junior Learn To Row

The Junior Learn to Row is aimed at 12 to 16 year olds and is run by one of our experienced Junior coaches, Tim Spencer.

Learn to Row training sessions take place on Tuesdays after school and Sunday mornings. Beginners are offered 2 free trial sessions before being asked to pay the annual membership subscription.

The aim is for new rowers to complete their British Rowing level 1 within 6 months and move to rowing on the river/canal.

For more information please contact our Junior Coordinator.

Learn To Cox

Cox’s are an integral part of the success of many of the clubs larger boats. A good cox can make the difference between having an enjoyable outing or not getting out at all. We welcome coxes throughout the year as we don’t run specific courses for those new to the sport, or wanting to develop their knowledge of the skills required.

Email membership@exeterrowingclub.com to register your interest.
