As we prepare to end the present season of rowing and move, post covid, into a new season and back to a more normal routine and structure, we are keen to get your thoughts and hopes regarding your rowing future. To help you fill out the questionnaire you will see below how the squad is laid out and a rough guide as to the expectations of each group that you may like to work towards.

The coaches can help with further guidance on groups and in addition, age, experience, attendance, boat technique and other things will be considered. Athletes will always be encouraged and supported and the intention is to expect plenty of movement between the groups as you progress along your desired pathway.

Tim’s groups

  • Learn to row
  • Development

These athletes will have yet to experience regular regatta racing and those who are new to the sport. This section will mainly be made up of J11 to J14 rowers, and also some J15 rowers who need to get up to speed. The main aim of this section is to make learning the sport as fun as possible.

Paul’s groups

  • Intermediate
  • Recreation
  • Advanced Recreation

This group will be principally made up of athletes who want to learn to scull and/row well, and take part in mainly WEARA level racing.

Stephen’s groups

  • Performance
  • Advanced performance

Athletes aiming to join this group will already have good experience of regatta racing, including those who have potential for trial and GB selection. This is mainly for J17 and J18, and sometimes younger athletes where potential and commitment to the sort of training required to compete at national regatta events is necessary.
